Penina Championship Golf CourseLocation:- Algarve 18 holes 6439 Metres Par 73 The Penina Championship Golf Course was the first ever in the Algarve and is considered to be Sir Henry Cotton's masterpiece. It was completely rebuilt in 1995, and it has retained most of its original features. It is a fairly flat parkland course with many bunkers, four hundred thousand trees, several lakes, spacious greens with vast tee areas, making this a real championship course. Penina is a demanding and historical course, which has been host to the Portuguese Open on several occasions. Long straight drives will find your ball in a good position and a notable feature on the back nine is the four par 5's. To establish itself as a prime golfing destination, another two complimentary nine-hole courses were built in the 1970's. Both also designed by Sir Henry Cotton. The Resort course is a pleasant par 35 course and the academy course a short par 30. Both courses have different characteristics, with the Resort course providing an alternative to the Championship course, whereas the academy is better suited to training schools and golf clinics for players with high handicaps as it has all the handicaps a beginner should need to encounter. Golf clinics are also available at the resort. The Penina Championship Course is Sir Henry Cottons masterpiece and in his words "One of the finest golf set ups there is anywhere" Handicap requirements:- Men 28 Ladies 36 Facilities include:- Driving Range, Putting Green, Restaurant, Bar and Golf shop.
