Oporto Golf Course6777 Metres Par 71 Location:- Northern Portugal There could be only one word to describe Oporto Golf Club, and that would be tradition. The Skenffigton Cup, which since 1891 has been played annually, is the oldest competition in the sport to have been played without interruption. This spectacular course is located 17 kilometres to the south of Oporto, beside the beautiful beaches of Espinho, and is a couple minutes away from the Historical Centre of Porto. It is 15 kilometres from the Casa Branca Beach and Golf Hotel. The Opprto Golf Course, after Pan, in France, is the second oldest course in Continental Europe. It was established in 1890, when British residents in Porto created the club. The course is relatively short (6,777 meters for a Par 71). Its narrow fairways however, are the main obstacles, starting out with a difficult Par 4. In terms of challenging holes, hole 11 would be one of them, a Par 5 of 590 meters, which together with hole number 4, is considered to be the most difficult on the course. As if to balance the difficulties of, these earlier holes, each of the course's two halves concluded with a very accessible Par 5 hole, providing some exciting endings for competitions.
