Designed by Donald Steel, CampoReal Resort is located in the heart of Portugal in the enchantingly rural "Oeste" (west) region, near Torres Vedras, and just a 30-minute drive from Lisbon and 15 minutes from the beaches.
CampoReal is already known as an exciting residential, golf and leisure development. The name translates literally as "the Royal Meadow" and was inspired by the first Kings of Portugal who used the area as their personal hunting ground.
The first hole already questions the player with a strategic lake on the front right. The next hole takes the golfer back alongside the same lake, but this time, a stream runs the length of the hole on the left making a straight shot imperative. The level of challenge has now been set for the course! All the holes have been successfully designed by Donald Steel to question most golfers for their choice of club and ball positioning. Not to leave anything out, the last two holes which are both Par 5's, test the driving abilities of the golfer.
The out of bounds parts of the course have been maintained as wild and natural areas, and much of the existing vegetation has been retained for this purpose. In this way the flora and fauna of the site will be encouraged and allowed to flourish. As a result of the significant change of level of the site, there are many exciting shots to play at Campo Real. This change of level also results in the course being a difficult, although not an impossible, course to walk.
Facilities include a Club House consisting of a reception, bar restaurant, golf shop and other golf services. The course covers an area of 55 hectares and is surrounded entirely by well appointed buggy paths.
